Villa Farnesina

How was the life of a rich man in Rome at the beginning of '500? How was the social life of the aristocratic families of the Renaissance?
How banquets took place and who were the guests who usually attended the parties held into the suburban villa of Agostino Chigi?
Agostino Chigi was a man with a superfine culture, a wealthy banker and a talent scout. In fact, he called to work in the construction and decoration of this beautiful villa overlooking the Tiber his compatriot Baldassare Peruzzi, but also other famous artists such as Sebastiano del Piombo, Giovanni Antonio Bazzi (known as the Sodoma) and above all Raphael.
Through the beautiful frescoes in the Loggia of Galatea (depicting a star chart), the Loggia of Cupid and Psyche, the Hall of Frieze, the Hall of the Perspectives and finally the Hall of Marriage of Alexander and Roxane, we will discover details, anecdotes and curiosities on the life of Alexander Chigi, who decided, at the beginning of the sixteenth century, to buy an apartment in Via della Lungara in Trastevere in order to to build his suburban villa in Rome.
